1.15.2 Server & Content Update

As of today, Astria is now updated to 1.15.2. Along with this, there are multiple major changes. The largest changes are; The introduction of the Magic API, rebalancing of almost all Custom Monster's, player stances, and [this is one a long time coming] the introduction of the first custom boss and mini-boss.

What follows is a detail change log of this update.

Major Changes

Custom Effect API and Custom Effects The server now has a Magic API. Currently the Magic API is still in heavy development. Currently it only supports the creation of custom effects, and some spells, though in the future it will allow for the creation of Spells, magic items and more. This API will allow me (Daniel_Return) to create new items and magic items for the server faster then in the past while providing a unified system for custom effects, spells, and other systems. With this API I have redone many of the existing custom effects that exist on the server. (Namely bleeding and Beast Escalation Potion effect). Furthermore there are a few new custom effects and items added to Astria that utilize this API. The source of the effects vary from being inflicted by monsters to being obtained as items. Furthermore the two Custom Bosses (and all future bosses) heavily utilize this API. Players will have a Scoreboard on the right center of the screen. This shows the custom effects the player is inflict with. Note not all effects are displayed to players. Lastly the Scoreboard is hidden when the player has no visible custom effects on them. Hit Chance and Evasion All Players and Monsters now have a Hit Chance and Evasion. Hit Chance is the chance of hitting the target your attacking. All entities have a 100% hit chance. Evasion is an entities chance to evade the attack that is hitting them. All entities have a 5% evasion. Evasion and Hit Chance can be modified by some Items, effects and abilities. Custom Monsters I have rebalanced almost all custom monsters. This mainly consists of the monsters being weakened/nerfed. This balance will hopefully bring the monsters more in line with the average strength of players, as well as giving newer players a easier time on the server. However there are a few monsters have had very few changes such as the Mountain Giant. I will introduce some more powerful monsters in the future to keep PvE challenging for the stronger players on the server. However this will be done in a way that keeps the stronger monsters from spawning/interacting with players who may not be ready to combat them. Lastly Custom Skeletons can now spawn from Skeletal Traps. Details about the changes can be found in the Changes section of this news post.

Player Stances Players can now use the "/stance" command to change there stance with other players. All players start out with the neutral stance. Currently valid stances are Friendly, Neutral, and Hostile. Stances set how players and items interact with each other and other players. Some Spell casting items can only target neutral and hostile players while others can only target friendly players (like healing). Furthermore Players who are Friendly cannot attack each other with melee combat. This can aid players who are PvPing or PvEing together so they do not accidentally hit each other. For those wondering (and who have been with the sever for a long time) Stances are the first steps towards the Guilds plugin that I have planned since the beginning of Astria. However I still have no ETA on when the plugin will be worked on or when it will be released onto the server.

Custom Bosses Custom Boss - Sand Storm Mummy Custom Mini Boss - Phantasm Sandstorm Mummy (Boss) The sand storm mummy is summoned using a sarcophagus by sacrificing 1 diamond block, 1 gold block, 1 mummy head and 1 Beating Heart. To view the boss summon sarcophagus do "/warp boss" in game The Sandstorm mummy is designed to be fought by a minimum of two players. Recommended Items: Diamond life armor (Fully enchanted), diamond sword (sharp 5), a good bow, a diamond dagger, Regen Potion's, Long Fighter Potion's, Golden Apples, ender pearls, and good food such as pork chops, Steak, and/or golden carrots at minimum. Warning: Watch your armor's durability during this fight, it can take a beating. This boss has two phases. Phantasm (Mini Boss) This mini boss is rather easy to summon and players should be able to figure it out with some experimentation. I challenge players to find out how to summon it. Recommend Items: iron armor w/ at least protection 3 on each piece. Iron Sword w/ sharpness 5. As with all monsters the bosses have entries in the Bestiary. Unlike most monsters you only have to kill bosses once to fill in the full entry. Once you kill a boss do "/Bestiary view <boss name>" to view its info. Damage Types Besides the vanilla Normal and magic damage, Astria now has a few of its own damage types. Magical: This is magic damage that is only reduced by Protection enchantment, the vanilla resistance effect, and in the future some custom spells and effects. There is pure damage: this damage is not reduced by any source except for some future spells and effects. True: this damage cannot be reduced in any way. Lighting: this is a variation of pure damage that will deal bonus damage for each consecutive lighting damage dealt to a target. It also deals bonus damge to players in metal armor (gold/iron/chain) Currently pure, true, and lighting damage are not used on astria. Vanilla lighting still deals vanilla lighting damage. Resource Pack Update With all of the new items being added I have updated the resource pack with the associated textures. Minor Quality of Life Changes Theres not much to say here. I have done a few minor quality of life changes to many features and functionality of Astria. Rules Change The server rules have been updated. See the rules page on the website for the changes. (/sites in game) or see the website link at the bottom of this post.

Additions and Changes - New Beast Escalation Potion. This version uses a Custom Effect to do monster spawn increasing. Provides a 35% monster spawning boost. - Note: the old version will still function, but will not show up in the Custom Effect Scoreboard. It still provides a 50% boost over the new versions 35%. This old version is no longer obtainable with this change. In a future update the functionality (and possibly the item) will be entirely removed. Custom Mobs - Viper: A flying monster that spawns in deserts. Those who attack it will be inflicted with an acid that deals damage and reduces armor. Has acid themed item drops. - Dust Devil: A skeleton who is a dust devil. Those within its storm cloud will be knocked around and take damage. Drops sand, bottle of dust's, its head, and the Mummy Head. Custom Items - Acid Flask: a splash potion that splashes acid onto the ground. This Places the Corrosive Poison effect onto all entities within it. Drops from Viper. - Acidic Hide: When used the player has Corrosive Skin placed upon them. When being attacked, the attacker is poisoned and has there armor reduced for a short duration. - Crawlers Legs: A food item that provides a speed boost when eaten. Its duration stacks with each leg eaten while still under the effect - Sword of the Sands: The entity the wielder attacks has there Hit Chance reduced by 8%. Provides minor health regeneration while in Deserts and Mesas. - Sandy Boots: Provides 5% Evasion. Provides a 10% speed boost while in desert and mesas. - Sand Skull: A decorative skull - Mummy Head: The Head of the Sand Storm Mummy - Ectoplasm: A base item that will be used for crafting new items in the future. - Bottle of Dust: A base item that will be used for crafting new items in the future. - Ethereal Cloak: A cloak that provides moderate armor and toughness. Upon taking physical damage the user will become ethereal. - Ankh: When in the players hot bar: will provide health regeneration and absorption when the players HP falls below a certain value. Is consumed upon use. - Beating Heart: A item that is crafting using max health along with a normal recipe. Can be used to increase max health. Also used in summoning of the Sand Storm Mummy Boss. Note the Max health consumed upon craft will last for 40 minutes of play time. Logging off will cause the timer to pause in its current time. Custom Item Changes - Swampy Flesh (raw) - Internal Code Changes - Cooked Swampy Flesh - Now Removes the Hunger Effect upon consumption - Internal Code Changes - Breaded Swampy Flesh - Reduced bonus saturation by 1. (6 to 5) - Now Removes the Hunger Effect upon consumption - Internal Code Changes - Fixed Lucky Sword not having attack speed - Note this change only effects newly obtained lucky swords at this time As with most items you can view the above items, crafting recipes, and other information using the ""/encyclopedia" command. Effects - Beast Escalation Effect: Mob spawning increased by 35% - Corrosive Skin: Provides minor damage taken reduction and places Corrosive Poison onto any entity that does a melee attack on the entity with this effect. - Corrosive Poison: Reduces the armor of the target and deals damage over time. -Bleeding: bleeding has been updated to use the new effect system. Other -A very large number of background technical changes making many features of this update possible. -An API for custom Player Heads. This allows easy creation of custom player heads for various uses. This is currently utilized by 1 plugin. I will be adding in more custom heads in the future. This API is for me (Daniel_Return) to add new custom item's using player heads. (Such as the Sandstorm Mummy head and beating heart)

Custom Mob Changes - Forest Dwellers - Increased life, Reduced damage. Can no longer blind players who have night vision. - Increased drop rates. Can now drop Bamboo in appropriate biomes. - Brute's - Increased Minimum damage reduction by 5%. Reduced maximum damage reduction by 10%. - Reduced Spawn Weight - Fighter - Reduced Minimum Max Health by 2. Increased maximum potential health. - Reduced Damage by 1. - Increased base Spawn Weight. Decreased weight gain per distance from spawn. - Reduced Duration of Strength and Resistance. Reduced Max strength by 1. - Increased chance to spawn with a helmet by 5%. - Reduced Chest Plate Protection Enchantment by 1 level. (Previously 2/3/4, now 1/2/3). Increased chance of having protection 1 by 5%. - Reduced Swords Sharpness Level by 1 (now 2, previously 3) - Reduced chance's to spawn with a Dagger or Shield - Note: Daggers boost damage while shields boost defense. - Removed chance to have regeneration placed upon them and associated regeneration potion drop - Reduced base xp drop by 1 and increased maximum xp drop by 5 - Increased Fighter Potion base Drop Rate and maximum drop rate. - Forceful Creeper - Stun effect is now a proper custom effect instead of a powerful vanilla slow. - Forceful Stun now prevents eating, interactions and damage. It still prevents movement. - Haunted Armor - Bonus Life steal now 4000+ blocks away from spawn instead of 2000 - Now drops Ectoplasm - Mesa Dweller - Reduced attack by 2 - Slightly reduced Shield Drop chance - Mountain Giant - Hardened Skin now reduces arrows down to 3 damage instead of 2. - Plains Crawler - Can now spawn in deserts - increased max spawn height and spawn weight - Speed boost is now a attribute instead of a potion effect. Speed boost is now 45%. - Now Drops Crawlers Legs. - Ranger - Increased spacing between helmet spawns. - Reduced Poison Duration by 2 seconds. - Healing no longer increases with distance from spawn - No longer spawns in Ice Spike Biomes - Reduced XP Drop - The First - Reduced Max Health by 5 - Reduced Attack by 1 - Reduced spawn weight by 1 - Hardened Skin now reduces arrows down to 3 damage instead of 2. - Wither Skeleton Archer - Reduced Damage by 1 - Bow can no longer have Punch II - Chance for bow to have Punch I reduced by 10%. - Wither Skeleton Occultists - Reduced Damage by 1 - Reduced Spell Charges by 2 - Increase Spell Cast cooldown by 1 second - Increased Casting distance to (18,6,18) from (17,6,17) - Withers Might Ability - Resistance Duration increased by 1 second - Speed Duration increased by 1 second - Reduced Strength Level by 1 - Reduced Heal amount by 2 - Withers Blast - Reduced Minimum Damage by 1 - Reduced Maximum Damage by 1 - Reduced other damage by 0.05 - Wither Skeleton Charred Bone Drops [For all variants] - Increased Base chance by 1% - Increased Luck Chance by 2% Vote Reward Changes and additions - Potion of luck token cost reduced by 3 (from 12 to 9) - Added Bee Spawn Egg - Added Dolphin Spawn Egg - Added Natural Bee Hive (Bee nest) - Added Nautilus Shell - Added Rabbits Foot

Bug Fixes - There have been many bug fixes, but none worth noting.

Removed - Custom Mobs - Rogue Pigman - See note towards end of this post.

Known Bugs, Issues and Oversights Sword of the Sands not using its custom texture Sandstorm mummy (and possibly other bosses) will state the win message and loss message upon being defeated by the player. (But is still counted as a win/kill and will update bestiary and do drops and xp.)

As with many of the major updates of the past, players can receive bonus vote tokens for the next week when voting. There are three voting sites. Players can vote on each sight once per day for a total of 3 daily votes. To vote do "/vote". To buy rewards with the vote tokens received do "/Vote rewards". For additional vote help do "/vote help".

Notes on the Rouge Pigman, Pigman Society Plans, and the Piglan in 1.16 I liked the Rogue Pigman when I first created and introduced it to the server. I had plans to flush out a pigman society. However I feel the Rogue Pigman and this design for their society conflicts with the new Piglens in 1.16. For now the Rogue pigman is being removed, and my Pigman Society plans are being shelved. I do still have plans for a Wither Skeleton Society and will hopefully be able to implement them in the future.

1.16 Update As usual I will not be updating to Minecraft 1.16 until major bugs are discovered/fixed and Spigot and all plugins I utilize from SpigotMC are updated to support 1.16. Until then I will be working on smaller content updates for Astria. Magic Update Many would have noticed the introduction of a few magic items with this update. I have been designing a magic update for Astria for a long while now. This update is a initial step in this direction. In future updates I will add more magic items and custom effects to Astria.
